Oh. My. God.Really, what else can I say about the plot that has not already been summarized in the dozens of other reviews here on Amazon? So I won't even try, but if you are interested, here it is, in a nutshell ... Boy has tragic past, meets girl who turns out to not be girl he thought she was, they have physical relationship, it develops, it falls apart, conflict between the two of them as a result, TONS of stuff happens, resolution, the end.I know, that sucked. But I only like to "warn" fellow readers of poorly-written books that made me scoff and snicker throughout the story (because it was just THAT bad) or made me want to slit my wrists with a dull blade (because the characters and/or storyline was just THAT awful). When a book is so enjoyable that I could feel my heartstrings literally being TUGGED with emotions and that I was actually saddened when the book ended b/c I wanted to read more about the characters ... well, then you're on your own. I ain't ruinin' nothin' for you.This book, to me, was the entire package: 1) Awesome plot that was unique and interesting, and with no "suspension of disbelief" required. 2) Spectacular writing by the author, which equates to delicious banter, the BEST lines from our hero, Andrew, and the right amount of descriptions without being too wordy that I started to skim. 3) ANDREW!!! Oh. My. God. I would like one of him, please. An over-the-top schmexy male who is intelligent (graduated first in his law school class), successful (incredible attorney) and wealthy, but who also is snarky and tortured and has the best one-liners and come-backs?!? Yes, puh-leeeese! 4) The Heroine, Aubrey. Know what I loved the most about her? Her narration never focused on how hot she looked in some skimpy little dress, or how tight her body was, or how she applied blue eyeshadow to make her eyes "pop" (I seriously hate that word, "pop") ... blah blah blah. I hate stories where there's just too much physical description by the narrator herself that you almost wonder why she doesn't just partake in some sexy-time activities by herself, stare at herself in the mirror, and call it a day. We know Aubrey's physical attributes, and once given, that was it. The focus was more on who she was and what she thought,, rather than her toned legs that went on forever or perky breasts that wouldn't quit or lush curves. Seriously, authors, PLEASE stop relying on these tired and over-used phrasing to describe your heroines!!But, I digress. In summary, this is one freakin' awesome book that led to my being completely unproductive at work for one entire day, to my laughing out loud (and I mean LOUD) to certain lines in the book (especially responses by Andrew ... le sigh), to squirming uncomfortably in my office chair at the sexy-time scenes (so nice to have a male lead whose idea of "dirty talk" isn't just saying "Baby" with every other word), to just being completely AWED by not just the plot itself, but the incredible writing in which the author magically made me feel almost as if I were part of the story. I love, love, LOVE this book and really ... this is why I love to read, because of storylines and writing and characters such as these. BRAVO!!!
The very first series I read from Whitney and absolutely fell in love with Andrew and Aubrey. He was absolute perfection of an Alpha male, sexy, hot, and oh so smart when he's in his element as an attorney. Loved the witty banter and the email messages between the two characters at the beginning. I've read this series at least 3 or 4 times and is always my go to when I feel like reading something so good and so sexy. I love the writing style and Whitney's characters are strong yet vulnerable beneath that confident exterior. Goes for both H/H. Andrew is one hell of a sexy, arrogant, confident, smart guy with a dirty mouth to match. Boy the things that comes out of his mouth just makes you want your lose your panties for him, Haha!!! As for Aubrey, her character is strong and she pursues her life dream of being a dancer and reaches her goal on her own without the support of her parents. Andrew may not shows that he cares, but beneath that exterior is a man with a big heart. Without giving much away, lets just say things from his past makes him who he is presently, arrogant. But when they do get together, it's not one easy ride and this is where Whitney's writing excel further. Her characters has chemistry off the charts and she perfectly weaves their story together. Highly, highly recommend this series.
Andrew finds it hard to trust, haunted by his past has him pushing everyone away and not being able to trust or love anyone the way he once did.Aubrey is a ballerina at heart and about to be come an assistant at a law firm, joining up to a lawyer web chat has her finding a man that she instantly connects with but she's about to find out how much that one man can change her world completely.Watching this pair on their journey is one of the most interesting and exciting thing I have ever experienced. At some points I thought my heart was being ripped out of my chest with how sad it got. This series made me feel so much, the smile on my face and the laughter that escaped was absolutely incredible. I LOVE when a book can bring these emotions out of me so simply.The drama they go through brings them to where they are at the end and although some parts are heart breaking it was needed for them to get where they currently are and that's just perfect, I love a good HEA! There was so many twists and turns that I actually couldn't see a HEA at the end but BOOM there was one and it was absolutely adorable.So super happy I came across these books, I'll definitely be reading more from this author.
Great series! I read Naughty Boss by this author and immediately downloaded this series next because I love this author's storytelling! The characters grabbed me from the start and didn't let go! I loved the chemistry, the amount of angst, and the little bit of mystery. I appreciated that it was told in dual POV which helped me connect with the story. I am also glad I read this way after it was released because I am not a fan of cliffhangers...you can't just read the 1st book! It was all wrapped up nicely at the end of book 3...I enjoyed the epilogue! I look forward to reading more from this author!
