I dunno, it's not like it is lightweight or that the author doesn't know his stuff.It's just that he spends a lot of time covering things that I didn't care about. Or plugging his own library that's on top of tmux. You may learn some good background info on tmux, don't get me wrong.But, in terms of actually learning things that made me more productive on tmux - which I use, but at very beginner level? (I am a seasoned command line user however) Or clever hacks? Out of the box productivity shortcuts? Not much.To quote its own intro, here?>Is it safe to ditch the GUI and IDE? Learn to navigate the world to the terminal using the tool depended on daily by thousands of system administrators and programmers.I know how to do this already in the macos Terminal. From this book, I did not achieve anywhere near that comfort level on tmux. In fact, I am struggling to think of anything that I learned here that improved my tmux experience. Granted, that might be because Apple's tmux implementation has issues, but I doubt it.
I’ve been using ssh and screen for years to manage Linux remotely, and recently switched to tmux and mosh. Tmux is similar to screen, but enough different that I wasn’t catching on as quickly as I’d liked. Yes I was able to use it pretty quickly, but only with the basics. Reading this book really saved me a lot of time figuring out more advanced techniques. Things I didn’t even know I needed lol. A great read! Thank you, Tony.
The book provides a what I believe to be a thorough review of tmux, but the writing style is too informal and unstructured for my taste.
This book helped me rapidly switch from GNU screen to tmux. I'm very thankful to the author for writing something so accessible and complete.
Only good as a rough reference
Well written enthusiastic introduction to the wonders of Tmux and the terminal.
Highly informative guide to using tmux to it's fullest. I'm often frustrated that tmux doesn't seem to have decent documentation so I felt like I was missing out on many features. This book filled in the blanks and provided excellent advice on configuration, plugins and scripting tmux.
