I bought this book for my grandkids (8 1/2 & 7 years old) to read before we went to the King Tut exhibit in Kansas City. They both loved it and were able to tell me the whole story on the way down to the exhibit. It was a great help for them to have this information beforehand.

My son enjoyed reading this book. He is eleven and it was a bit easy for him, but a good read for just pleasure.
Looking for Egypt books for my children, the title of this book put me off at first. I don't think much of presenting the idea of curses and other such nonsense to children. However, when I read it, I found out it is actually a well-written and interesting biography of Howard Carter, perfect for elementary-age children. It tells of his life and the struggles he went through searching the Valley of the Kings for a forgotten tomb he was sure was there, and then the marvelous discovery that he made. The idea of the curse is put forth as it was in the newspapers at the time, but then is discounted. So that was okay with me. The story was well-researched with lots of details that I hadn't read in other Egypt books. Nice book! My kids are going to love it.
This is a well researched and well written book. Nice to see children's authors who actually do their homework! Most scholars can't or won't write for children and most children's authors can't or won't do real research. This book is a wonderful exception!
I really liked the adventures of the main character. I didn't like that it was short. I wish it would've been longer. I would recommend it to be read by my classmates and kids around my age (I'm eight).
